Kotor Travel Guide: Flights & Hotels

Montenegro · TIV

Kotor sits at the end of a dramatic fjord-like bay, its walled Old Town backed by a steep mountain you can climb via an ancient fortress trail for sweeping views. It's smaller and less crowded than Dubrovnik, its better-known neighbor up the coast, but shares a similar Venetian-influenced old town character.

May-June and September offer warm weather with fewer crowds and cruise-ship crowds than midsummer. The Bay of Kotor drive itself, hugging the water past small villages, is worth the trip on its own.
