Krakow Travel Guide: Flights & Hotels

Poland · KRK

Krakow survived WWII largely intact, so its Gothic and Renaissance old town — centered on the enormous Main Market Square and Wawel Castle — is the real thing, not a reconstruction. It's also the most common base for visiting the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial and the Wieliczka Salt Mine.

May-June and September offer mild weather with fewer crowds than midsummer. The historic center is very compact and walkable, and hotel prices remain low relative to most Western European cities of similar draw.
