Lyon Travel Guide: Flights & Hotels

France · LYS

Lyon is widely considered France's food capital, with a dense concentration of traditional bouchon restaurants, a Renaissance old town (Vieux Lyon) riddled with hidden passageways called traboules, and two rivers meeting at its center. It's less touristy than Paris while still offering a full historic city-break experience.

April-June and September-October offer mild weather for walking Vieux Lyon and the Presqu'île district. Lyon is also a major TGV rail hub, making it an easy add-on to a wider French or Swiss itinerary.
